From The Pastor 02.01.10
- Feb 1, 2010
In the month of February, you will begin hearing us talk about “the power of one.” That phrase will be our theme for the remainder of 2010. We will be explaining it to you and calling you to embrace
it as February unfolds. For now, let me just say this, “never underestimate THE POWER OF ONE.”
I covet your prayers as I travel to the African nation of Botswana on February 4. I am going with Dr. Terry Herald, Executive Pastor at Whitesburg Baptist, and Dr. Phil Roberts, President of Mid-western Baptist Theological Seminary. Although I will be preaching on that Sunday, this is primarily a vision trip to explore some strategic ministry opportunities and – hopefully – establish a longterm partnership. We will be examining two needs that exist in Botswana – establishing theological education for their pastors and helping a church in the capital city establish an ongoing sports and
recreation ministry. Please pray for safety in travel and for our efforts to be productive for the Kingdom.
Although I will be in Botswana, Sunday, February 7 is Super Bowl Sunday. As we did last year, we are planning a major church-wide fellowship. Bro. Ryan and his team of volunteers are diligently planning the details. I can tell you this. Food, games, football and fellowship will all be involved. At half-time in the Super Bowl, you will hear a testimony and be challenged spiritually. Don’t miss
this wonderful opportunity to hang out and fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Be watching and listening for the specifics.
Work on our GPS project, coming up the weeks before Easter, will begin to accelerate this month. Work and planning are already taking place behind the scenes. By the beginning of March, we need to be ready to reach the goal of sharing the gospel with the 10,000 homes to which we’ve been assigned. We need all hands on deck for this one. Be watching for details and jump in with both feet.
Remember this Highland family. Your pastor loves you and believes the best is yet to come. Our future is as bright as the promises of God.
Your Pastor,
