Sunday School

At Highland, we believe Sunday School is the church organized to do the Great Commission and equipped to live the Great Commandments.

We do the Great Commission by inviting friends, making disciples, and engaging people in the life of the church.

We live the Great Commandments by encouraging one another to love God above everything and to demonstrate love to one another.

Our Sunday School is age-graded, from birth through senior adults.  People in the same life-stage find community and belonging in Sunday School.

Our Adult Sunday School classes offer four different study tracks:

  • Bible Studies for Life -- an age-graded curriculum that helps adults connect biblical truth to everyday decisions and actions, to build understanding of the Bible, to develop godly values, and to live with God-given purpose.  There are four life stages in the Bible Studies for Life curriculum.

  • Explore the Bible -- takes adults through all 66 books of the Bible in a systematic study.  Quarterly studies alternate between the Old Testament and the New Testament.

  • MasterWork: Essential Messages from God's Servants -- challenging, Christ-centered Bible study material along with a modern perspective from today’s most respected Christian leaders, like Charles Swindoll, Randy Alcorn, Beth Moore, Charles Stanley, and others.

  • Threads Series -- especially for young professionals and young single adutls, the Threads Bible studies feature flexible formats with engaging supplemental video and audio, 8-12 week sessions to fit into busy schedules, and supplemental resources for members and leaders online. Discussion-driven studies that intentionally foster community.

Collegiate Sunday School track uses Life Connections Series.  With biblical depth and practical advice for the realities of daily life, students will be challenged to study God's Word, make a difference in the world, and deepen their walk with Christ.

Check out the Youth Ministy page and the Children's Ministry page for more Sunday School stuff.

The purpose of Friend Day is to encourage every Highland Baptist Church member and Sunday School member to invite at least one unchurched friend to Sunday School and worship on August 29.  I have my friend; do you have yours?
